The wonderful 2010 King Reunion has concluded.
That was fabulously planned and executed by the younger
generation of the Kings which made me comment there that the King family's
future is in good hands and though the accomplishment of Sir Charles, SY,
Albert, and Willis are recognized by the larger world, we who are in the
family know that we have a wealth of talent of great diversity in the
coming young generation of Kings who will continue this fine tradition.
This high expectation makes me proud to be a King. There are also many
young people I have met and re met who have different surnames that
impress me equally. On top of this, they are all nice people which brings
to me much joy that I am sure you share. Though it is daunting, let's have
a bigger and perhaps better reunion next year. Let's top the attendance of
the youngest generations next time. - Tony (Orange County, CA)

Constance King (Tony's mom) passed away
June 10, 2010, after a brief illness in Hong Kong. She had visited Tony's
family in California to participate in the US celebration of Charles Kao's
Nobel Prize award in San Mateo and a relative's wedding also in San Mateo.
She did enjoyed the visit but was homesick for HK. She returned to HK with
the help of Jennifer's older sister, Lilian, and quickly lapsed into
cardiac and respiratory illnesses. She was hospitalized twice and had
excellent medical help but succumbed probably from a cancer of unknown
origin. She died in the company of many of her godchildren and relatives
at her bedside and others rushing to her hospital. She did not suffer.
Images
of her memorial program can be seen here.

Congratulations to Charles and his family on the Nobel Prize!
Some of the King family gathered with them in Sweden for the official
festivities, and some gathered in San Mateo after Christmas to celebrate.

Tom King passed away peacefully at home in Irvine on January 9, 2010, after a long brave battle with his cancer. He wished that there be no formal memorial services. He will be cremated by the Neptune Society and interred at the Santa Barbara Cemetery. Terry asked that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the American Cancer Society in Tom King's name.
We will miss him.
